Why don't I get an email if I have a PM?

I used to always get an email if someone pm'd me. Now I just have a message flashing at the top of the page when I visit the forum.

Have I don't something wrong, or has the system changed?

I've never gotten an email for a new PM, I don't think it's ever been that way since I joined. I do get an email if someone posts in a topic I have subscribed to.

At the bottom of your PM page there is a link to "Enable PM e-mail notification" It's been staring at me all this time!

I turned my email notification off. It was really obnoxious.

I have gotten an email saying I have gotten a new pm but I don't have one in my inbox.
