I have a silkie hen just over a year old that always lays soft eggs and possibly no shell at all (a few times I've found only yolk in the coop). I feed Henhouse reserve mixed with flock maker, daily black soldier fly, they have free choice of oyster shell rocks and flakes, they have a big enclosed yard where they get sun, plus she's just recently had a round of poultry cell. What could possibly be her issue?? I'm out of ideas for this little girl 🤷‍♀️

Sounds genetic. You might try a few days of calcium citrate pills and see if it helps. I have an older hen that struggles sometimes and I crush one up in her food. She only has problems occasionally though. I’m not sure what you can do long term

It might be good to give her 300 mg of human calcium citrate daily orally for up to 7 days. That may cause the shells to harden. If they don’t, then the problem may be a shell gland problem in the oviduct.
Thank you! Do you know the dosage per pound?
