Why I love BYC

We are all different and we are all welcomed.
We love animals and we are a giving and helping family.
This is a place where a Wiccan and a Christian help an Atheist and a Jew lends advice.
We see colors in shades of feathers and combs... nothing more.
I love this place and I hope it never changes!

It is amazing how interesting things become when you've got 6,000 VERY different members on a forum that is meant to be a friendly and happy place for every person, from every age, from every walk of life.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it... I'm amazed at how well our big community does at getting along so well in spite of pretty big differences. My first experience with this on BYC was many years ago when I saw people who eat their chickens having conversations with people who put diapers on their chickens (and wouldn't eat them any more than eat one of their "real" children). Just amazing!

Oh... I've said this before too... BYC is great because of all the members, but it remains especially great because of all the hard work the BYC staff put into this place. These staff members moderate based on rules set forth many many many years ago that are in place to keep this a safe place for children and friendly for everyone.

Keep up the friendly pace everyone... we're entering into Spring and we're already adding about 20 members a day. It will continue to get even more busy around here (we're adding about 2,000 new posts per day) and we'll need everyone to help out as the newbie chicken owners come aboard!

Speaking of which, this reminds me of the other thing I love about BYC... even if you are new you have something to share to help someone. Conversely, even if you are totally experienced, you can still have things to learn and questions to ask. Another reason why we are such a super great community!

I like that it isn't very strict and you can discuss a wide variety of thngs not just chickens. There are plenty of topics for everyone. I am on some boards where just mentioning something besides chickens will get you put on moderation.
It is also the easiest and quickest board I am on and I am on many.

That's good to know it still loads fast. That was one of my top priorities with this forum is that it stays super fast, even for those poor unfortunate souls on dialup.

I am so very thanksful I found this site - it has helped me with so many different things from raising a happy flock of girls ( who gave me 6 eggs today !! ) to dealing with my crazy K-9's

A special thanks to you from me. A month ago or so I PMed you with a baby chick emergency not realizing you were a mod. I never look. LOL I just new you had a lot of experience from your posts. You helped me like a friend would without any hesitation and even though I lost the baby you encouraged me to try again. I really thank you for that.




Also, I have posted on here about many things. Sometimes chicken related, sometimes health related, sometime personal stuff, and every single time I have been given helpful, friendly advice from all walks of life. Never once has anyone said "and what dose that have to do with chickens" I've gotten Pm's and emails from people with even more helpful advice. Because of people on here my husbands asthma is now under control for the first time in over 5 years. SO thank you BYC family and MODS.
