I recently got a 5 year old breeder india blue because i knew my 2 yr old silver pied wasnt going to do the job on all the hens I have now, the silver pied constantly just shadows the big male with a long train often stepping on his tail and trying to get close to peck him in the face but the blue knows and doesnt let him....Why doesnt this big male just beat the heck out of the silver pied once or fight back at all do defend himself...then I know he would cut the crap out with harrasing the new male.

Is it because its close to breeding season? im fixing to take out the india blue male along with a blackshoulder hen to mate him with and maybe a blue pied hen. NEED MORE AVIARYS

Maybe your new peacock has a nice temperament? When I had an adult male in with a two year old (they first were introduced when the two year old was a yearling and the adult was 3) and the adult peacock was very easy going and the two year old just left him alone but sometimes they hung out a bit. Eventually the adult peacock would jump on the two year old every time he tried to display at the peahens. At two he became a threat in the adult peacock's eyes so he set him straight. They didn't get into a fight but the adult just let him know that he was the boss. It is weird that your younger peacock is messing with your older one. Maybe since he is new he hasn't totally settled in yet and once he does he will set your two year old straight.

good thinking, i think you wre right on with the settling in. because now, a few days later they are all best friends. I added on to my aviary i will make a new thread soon, possibly in the morning when i upload pics

Good! Yeah I have had it get a little ugly when I got a new peahen. My dominant peahen beat her up for the first few days until everyone settled in.
