So I have a random questing. I was watching my chickens and every-time I put a hen down the rooster would put his wing down and and it looked like he was herding them closer then he put his wing back up , then he would stop and let them run around (if that makes sense). Does anyone know why he is doing this? thanks

That's the rooster dance! It means he is 'maturing' (wink wink). He will soon be mating them if he isn't already. It's just a rooster thing.

ahaha thats kinda what I though but he never mated with them after he "danced"

It a wing dance. Roosters do it as a courtship behavior and as a way of saying he's dominant.
