My chick is crying that the 80-90 of warmth is to high, I lower it down to 74, is this normal? Don’t know his age

Looks less than a week old. Needs access to 95 deg Fahrenheit. He could be crying because he is alone. Does he have friends?

Yes , another baby chick but he cry’s when the heat is too high but if I take him else where, were it is warm around 76F he is happy

I notice often times i have to reduce the hear sooner the recommend too, but maybe it has more to do with my container then the heat source.

Anyways keep the heat source as far to one side of thier pen as possible. And don't worry so much about the temp they want as how they are acting. If they are under the heat and huddled they are cold if they are away from the heat and spread out they are hot. It might be that the hot spot in your brooder is to big and they just cant get away from the heat when needed. They should have enough room to where one side is at the recommend temp and the other side a modest room temp or slightly warmer. You don't want their whole area to be at temp as they need to learn to adjust on thuer own by finding a cooler or warmer place.
