Why is my baby chicks down on its crop area gone?

You need to get your family to buy some chick starter crumbles at a feed store tomorrow. Purina, Nutrena, even Dumor will work. They sell small bags nowadays. Millet is a grain that is not a complete feed. It is not going to live on millet. Did you get this chick from a breeder? Do you have others?

No, I don't have others. And, yes, tomorrow we will try to get our hands on some chick feed. We got the chick as an egg, and only 3 out of the dozen hatched. 1 died because it was the runt and its feet were balled up, which made it impossible for it to walk. Other one, a bird got it.

Could it be that it got its chest wet from the watermelon, then just ate a lot and pigged out? Like, maybe it stretched its crop out after eating the watermelon. Then the down stuck together and made it look like it was balding. Cause today, it looks lots better after night.
a possibility but with so many factors in play you may not narrow it down so easily. also u may want to get a friend for it. it may end up passing from being alone
