This is so helpful. We have 5 hens; one of them is quite a bit smaller than the other four. She, a sex-link Golden Red, was constantly being "humped" by an agressive RRI hen and pecked on the head by another RRI hen while she was being mounted. Her back looks just like yours in the picture. I got blue coat in a generic form from the pharmacy and applied Noxema, but that did not deter these two. [BTW, the humping hen does not lay anymore, and the head pecker only occasionally. The other three, including the one being attacked, lay almost every day.] I isolated these two aggressors, and got an apron for the little one, but her Golden Red sisters attacked her visciously as well. So I isolated the little one two weeks ago and there has been absolutely no change in the redness on her back, and feathers seem to have grown back in. I've not continued applying the blue coat tho. I am at a loss to understand what is happening. We have a 12' x 12' coop for the 5 and that seems to be enough space.... I think the little one is lonely but I've not tried to reintegrate them yet. Any thoughts?
