Why is my chicken so NOISY

My buff Orpington chicken is currently 22 weeks, no egg yet- but today she was the noisiest she’s ever been, this morning Crazy I tell you, for a good 5-15 mins she was making the loudest BAWK-bawk-bawk-BAWK-bawk-bawk, then 40 mins ago and then now, we have a noise thing in our area so if it’s too loud we get fined or smth, she is by herself majority of the day when we cant bring the chicks outside, but she does look a tad bit spooked, when se makes that noise we check EVERYWHERE- yet nothing, do you guys know what is going on?

Are you sure she wasn't spooked by a predator? I've only had one who hasn't laid yet scream before needing to lay (this was right when she KNEW she had to nest). Usually only noisy, like she's talking to you and complaining. If she is screaming, it is a "I need help" call.
Even if you don't see something, there could be a hawk in a tree or something similar. Chickens have better ears than humans, they hear the sound of it, take cover, and scream for protection.

We added eight more orpingtons this year, chocolate and lavender. It turned out well, as we just lost our barred rock and would otherwise have just had our lone buff. Without the lead barred rock, it's now very silly out there though.

We had years of just a trio of hens and the loudest noise being the "Human! I see you! Come pay attention to us! Feed us crunchy treats!", a sound best described as a screaming goat (bWaaaaaaaaAAAAaalurgh!), used to have the human come make sure they are OK. Now hearing all of them join the egg song has me bolting out the back door, looking for predators. When they see me, they end the chorus, except for the one in the henhouse that didn't see me and is now a soloist. I assume it's "I just laid THE BEST F****N' EGG EVER! We have the best eggs! Our flock is awesome! We are Derpingtons!!!!".

As they have laid more it's definitely quieter, thankfully. They are still proud, but I think the surprise of "Something awesome came out of my cloaca!" is less.

We sadly had to get rid of my beautiful girlie since she broke the neighborhood noise level multiple times and we wouldnt want to risk getting a fine, truly sucks as she was such a beautiful girl, but she went to a nice home

just when she and the chicks were getting along and they overcame an infection at least we got to raise her

Same, I have one Buff Orpington pullet that's currently laying and she sings all about for twenty minutes. I'm like just lay the damn thing and shut up about it!

This cracked me up. We have 3 BOs, one of which is so stinking LOUD I swear everyone within 5 miles knows we have chickens. She will vocalize for an hour before she lays, in the nest, back out, back in back out, squawking the entire time and the closer to finally going in she gets, the louder and more distressed her voice is. It sounds like a chicken being tortured. I frequently say the same thing, just go lay your egg already!@@
Our other BOs, one only sings for about 15 minutes (agonizingly long) post lay and the 3rd one never makes a noise before or after laying. She's my favorite....

yeah it really sucks living in city limits. The way I figure it though, the school busses that fly down the street at 6AM and the trash trucks that come down the street every day at all hours make more noise than the chickens so if someone doesn't like it they can move, because unfortunately, we're unable to at the present, otherwise, I'd be country girl gone in a heart beat.
