Why is my chicken so NOISY

:lau This cracked me up. We have 3 BOs, one of which is so stinking LOUD I swear everyone within 5 miles knows we have chickens. She will vocalize for an hour before she lays, in the nest, back out, back in back out, squawking the entire time and the closer to finally going in she gets, the louder and more distressed her voice is. It sounds like a chicken being tortured. I frequently say the same thing, just go lay your egg already!@@
Our other BOs, one only sings for about 15 minutes (agonizingly long) post lay and the 3rd one never makes a noise before or after laying. She's my favorite....
I have a total of 5 BO's, but only one laying, the other 4 are 14ish weeks. Even the young ones are very chatty. When all 5 are laying the neighbors may get annoyed, even though they haven't complained about the cockerels yet.

I'm struggling with mine not making noise/showing signs of needing to lay vs just excited to see me. They've all started to copy the "smush yourself against the walls and make noise" to mean they want treats, but stopped doing that for eggs. They don't make a sound now until they're in the laying box, and only make actual noise to announce they are done and want my attention. One has even been stealth laying some on the ground like it's poo!:thContext is I move them between a day run and their coop+run because a tunnel between the two isn't an option.

yeah it really sucks living in city limits. The way I figure it though, the school busses that fly down the street at 6AM and the trash trucks that come down the street every day at all hours make more noise than the chickens so if someone doesn't like it they can move, because unfortunately, we're unable to at the present, otherwise, I'd be country girl gone in a heart beat.
I like how our neighbor with the shrieking pre-schooler and the large Barky McBarkBark made a snide comment about hearing the chickens. 🙄

And this is when we start knocking on nearby doors with "extra" eggs and a big smile!
