Why is my chicken so ugly?

This rooster is about 25 weeks old. He is a mutt of some sort.

At a few days old one of his brooder mates pecked his head and the feathers never grew back.

Seriously, this is one ugly rooster. He's very gentle and sweet, but he has a face only a mother could love and I am not his mother.

Here's his poor little messed up head.

Here is his back.

And from the side.

He is unique, charming and has character! A face you can't forget. Beautiful eyes. Shiny shapely beak. Yeah your right. But I like him.

If it's any consolation, we have a rooster that looks even worse.

He was fighting another rooster through chain link before I rescued him and is now comb-less and wattle-less. He also has scar tissue that causes puffiness around his eyes, and his beak, while not "crossed" doesn't connect right: the top doesn't meet the bottom right. He is ugly. But he is the sweetest of the bunch and old and slow, so he freeloads... : )

He is in the middle of a juvie molt, which is why he looks "scraggly".

Once his head heals, the feather folicles will start to regrow feathers for the bald area - just takes a bit of time.

Feather growth requires a lot of protein, so you might want to offer him treats high in protein (meat, fish, scrambled or hard boiled eggs - all good treats) or a higher protein feed.

He is very very sweet. But I need to rehome him since we already have a wonderful rooster and can't keep more than one. It is going to take a very special (or very hungry?) person to welcome him into their home. Poor little muffin....
