I just want to say I would not recommend hurting her, shoving her to the ground dominantly works fine, because they realize that you have control over them and once they stop moving then it means they understand you are bossIs it a rhode island red or a red breed perhaps? Usually the red ones can be aggressive. People have told me their rhode island reds are aggressive and one of my red sex links were aggressive with me once. one time my red sex link was attacking me and I kicked her away and I must of hurt her because she ran away and didn't bother me or anyone else after that, she probably took it that humans were dominant and she was pretty skittish after that but a day later she warmed up to me and now she is really friendly. I just pick her up and hold her when I want. She is one of my favorite chickens.
