In the last couple of days, one of our hens, an 8 month old Buff Orpington, has started acting strangely. She is “strutting” like a turkey when we get close to her. She is usually our most submissive chicken and this is unusual. Additionally, last night two other hens did not go into the coop as usual at bedtime- they roosted on a bar in their run and had to be taken into the coop. Again tonight, all 5 did not go into the coop. Yesterday she was behaving strangely- constantly picking at herself and fluffing up a lot. The other 4 are not doing this at all. We thought mites, but why would the other 4 not behave similarly? Could she be broody?
