Why is this?

Hello, I have a Colombian Wyandotte, and when she runs she limps. I picked her up and squeezed her legs to see if she will react, but she didn't. She is 2 months old, is this common?

How does she limp? Like kind of tripping? Or holding her foot up and kind of walking fast on it, so she's not putting as much weight on it (kind of looks like hopping)? How long has she been doing it? And is it only when she runs, or when she walks too? Chickens can limp for a lot of reasons, so some more info would be helpful.

She limps like she is hopping, she has had it for probably 4 days now and she only limps when she runs.

She probably just stepped on something or hurt herself. I had a chick do this for a few days once, because he got hurt climbing through some chicken wire. His mama wouldn't let me catch him though, so he just healed after a few days. If you can catch her, I would make sure she doesn't have a dirty wound. The chick just kind of sprained it I think, so it was sore, which may have happened to your girl. I would put her in a smaller pen and make her relax. Just keeping her off it for a few days is probably the best thing.

I don't have a smaller pen, but I could put her in my coop to rest. If she has a sore leg, she won't get out.

OK, as long as she won't exerting chasing things (because chickens do LOVE to chase things. ). She should be good.

I'd check the bottom of her feet for a bumblefoot scab..

jewel1 I have done that, looking for bumblefoot there was nothing I will look again to see if there is bumblefoot scab. MsBagawkbagawk, my hens love chasing things frogs, flies, even snakes.

Yep, they sure do love to chase. I had one kill a rat once, disturbing, but the chase was very entertaining.....

Cool! Not just a little while ago, we had a meat chick kill a mouse. I didn't get to see it, but my brother told me.
