!!Urgent!! Mom says I can get my chickens when the coop is designed, but I haven't found the PERFECT one yet. (sounds like something a single person would say)

Just post what your favorite aspect of your coop/tractor/brooder pen etc. is. Pics VERY welcome! (I'm kinda visual when it comes to directions)

I think about three things when looking at coops and tractors. Maybe this will help you, as you look at designs.

1. Safety of the chickens.
Protection from predators. Good wire and latches.
Protection from weather and adequate ventilation.

2. Ease of doing chores.
Gathering eggs, giving food and water, cleaning.
With tractors, how easy they are to move.

3. How it looks.
This just depends on the person or neighborhood.

I hope you get some great ideas. Congratulations on getting chickens!

All good points.

Coop design will depend on a number of things.

- What area of the country do you live?
- How many chickens can you realistically have? That is quite the list in your sig line!
- Do you have access to free or reduced price building materials? Think CraigsList and Freecycle.
- What is your budget like for anything you can't scrounge?

Let us have a little more information and you'll see many ideas coming you way.

Have you looked at all the coops and tractors on the chicken coops pages? There are so many ideas and some things can be melded together to form your own plans for what will work for you and your chickens.
I spent a good month just looking at lots and lots and lots of other people's designs. Tons of fun and it has worked out great for me to make a few nice tractors.
Good luck and keep us informed of how it is going!
