Why New Outdoor Nest?

My hen stopped laying in the nesting box, where she had been laying for a year, and built a nest underneath the pampas grass, where I found an egg today. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHY SHE WOULD MAKE THIS SHIFT? Thank you.

Is the coop really dirty or anything? Any new chicken additions recently? Could be a number of things- chickens are pretty strange about changes to their environment.

Or maybe she is tired of going all the way back to the coop to lay...who knows what goes through their little chicken brains? Mine do it too...irritates the poo out of me.
