Why Not BLRW???

I am into the showing part of having chickens. I was wondering why Blue Laced Red Wyandottes weren't recognized by the APA, so I e-mailed them to ask. They said its because no one has ever tried to get them accepted! Why not? I think they're gorgeous! And they seem to have been perfected by some breeders.

If you read in the yearbooks and other places, it tells you all the info needed to get them accepted. You need a group of breeders that have to breed them for so long, and then you have to have the standard for the color and show at the semi-national and the national.

I am in a BLRW group and they have been fighting an uphill battle. They can't seem to agree on a standard to even present. Getting the colors right has been a sore spot among breeders.

I just thought that they seemed pretty popular, to be a 'rare' variety. I'm really thinking about getting a pair, I LOVE the coloring. I would want to look at them before I bought any. Buckguy, send me some info please!

They are in demand and are beautiful birds. I had some two years ago but they weren't very hardy. Almost all of the chicks I hatched died. I finally sold the adults. i will check with the guy that has some for sale. He had three hens, a roo and about 15 chicks.

Getting the colors right has been a sore spot among breeders.

There is a big issue with color. There is sucha wide variation in the shade of red. Some are more of an orange color, Some are rhode-island red and some are more of a brown-red. Regardless of the shade they are a very beautiful variety.​

I saw some at the stockton, CA show. I can't remember how they placed though.
They are very gorgeous and seem to be getting very popular, I'm sure we'll just have to be patient and wait for them to become recognized.

Yeah, setting the standards has been a big point of contention over here in the U.S. I just don't understand why if they're trying to work towards what the Germans accomplished, why don't they adopt the German standards here? See, there's politics even in chickens.
