OK...I know the general time frame as to when a hen might start laying. Mine are approximately 35 wks. Shouldn't they be laying by now? If so, what could the problem be? Maybe I'm just impatient, but I thought I might see that first egg by now. BTW.....they are gold laced and silver laced Wyandottes. Any thoughts would be so helpful!!

I've had wyandottes & they started at 20 -22 weeks like all the other breeds I've ever had. Every flock in the last 19 years have had a few laying at 19-20 weeks and the rest soon after. Just can't imagine waiting until 30+ weeks.

Could they be laying somewhere you haven't found yet? Did you raise them from chicks and if not are you sure they are that old? 35 weeks seems like a long time to wait for a S/GLW.

Well, I was told when I bought them that they were 5 mos. Their cones are about halfway grown, and they look to me that they are very close to complete maturity. Also, they were clucking instead of peeping. The only changes I have seen in them since i brought them home is that they have definetely grown, and their cones are developing. When I got them, Their cones were just starting to appear. Now they have turned a bright red. I dont think there is a possibility that I am just not finding the eggs. They are definetely not in the coop and I havent found any in their run either. At what age do their cones begin to appear? Thank you for your help and ideas!!
