why pine shavings

i have been seeing that many people use pine shavings for bedding material. why cant you use cedar shavings? this is all i have seen around hartwell ga where i live

Most say cedar shavings cause respiratory problems with chickens & pine shavings are safer.

Farm supply stores should sell pine or white shavings. People who keep horses don't use cedar either, and no hardwoods.
