I have been reading articles that people say when
Hatching silkies most of them will be roos? Why wouldn't it be a 50/50 chance?..what do u do with all the roos, put them in a separate coop or sell them...?

Do you have a link? I'd like to read that in context.

I don't do Silkies but I hatch a lot of other chicks. Most of my hatches either under a broody hen or in an incubator are not that close to 50-50. A typical hatch might be split 65% to 75% one sex or the other though some are 50-50. Over the course of a season, may 45 chicks, I might get a 30 to 15 split, one way or the other. But when I combine a couple of years though it is generally real close to 50-50. That's the way averages work, you have to have enough for averages to mean much.

I don't know why Silkies would be any different.

They don't. They may rarely be all male or all female but in general are 50:50. There are perhaps 50 billion chicks hatch a year around the world. The average is 50:50.
It is the domain of statistics and actuarial science.
I save the best one or two males from most hatches for breeding and eat all the rest.
Silkie meat is an especially sought after carcass in Asian communities.

It is a 50/50 chance. I've had all females, and all males in a small batch of hatched chicks. On average you should get 50 out a 100. Most people are just hatching a few so odds can be different.

Some we keep, some we butcher. It all depends on the rooster and the room for them here.
