Why Spay and Neuter?

All my animals are spay and neutered (Excepted my Chickens I don't have a rooster and they are locked up in a big pen, so) I just got my Kitten Neutered yesterday. I don't like it when animals are not Spayed or Neutered. When I first read the title, I thought you were going to say "why should we spay or Neuter are animals!" I was going say...

See this is why people need to spay! 3 week old kittens that someone dumped in a bucket and dumped on the side of the road! Starving and covered in fleas! These sweethearts did not deserve this and it's not their fault, but they had to suffer for it! I wish people would be more responsible!

I hate it when ignorant people say that they want their animal to experience "motherhood" because it's all rainbows and butterflies...    Your pet won't know the difference and won't ponder about not feeling fulfilled with life and will most certainly live a happier life as an altered critter!  Rant over LOL!

Agreed! Not only that but we foster for shelters and I can't tell you how many puppies we've gotten because the mother rejected and attacked them. My dog has been spayed since 4 months old, and she thinks she is the mom to every chick we bring home and loves them way more then she likes other dogs. She isn't even fond of the puppies we foster, and she ignores them half the time. No one looks at the cost either. It's expensive to raise a little of puppies and get them their shots and wormings. I know, I've done it countless times because people are irresponsible and don't spay and neuter! Ugh!

Even then, the 'experience of mother hood' is nothing like it really is if you own a Preggo dog / cat. Try a chicken - first, you can SEE the development, and 2nd, they learn how to hatch eggs and how fragile they Are, and 3rd they learn how much work is required to keep them happy, since you need to take full requirement, and they get to see handle the chicks much more then a puppy - sorry to say, but a chick is a lot hardier then a puppy.
My friend breeds huskies (she works them), and we (hopefully) will breed heelers (Australian cattle dogs) in a couple years. We don't have any livestock to work them, but I know a few places that have a LOT of cows, so hopefully we'll be able to work them with some angus.

So sorry to hear about the kittens- around here they'd be snatched up. Typically, only older dogs/cats and black cats don't get adopted. So we don't have much of an over population - dont think I've ever seen a stray dog...

I talked him down from $300 to $150, I would of been in your shoes I would of told the person there is two ways to go either I call the pound to take the pups or you can freely give them to me if you do not do this then I WILL CALL THE POUND and they will fine you for cruelty to animals and I am sure they could find more then that or if you give all of them to me you will not be fined and save yourself a lot of money that you don't have. I would not talk him down I would not give him any cash and I would explian first of their condtion but I would have them in hand if the owner is found since you said they were stolen I would contact the owner and expliain I have them and to come get them or you still would care for them and the owner can come get them when he would like to OR I would keep them till the pups was ready to go to good homes. I had a female dog that I watched for signs of heat I was lucky for 3 years of pulling the male out when she went into heat but we have been running back and forth from the hospital my husband's mother was in it she was in and oout a lot anyhow one day we came back and she and he was locked the damage was done my female was 3 going to be 4, she had 10 but only four was alive I think the others were still born she didn't bother to remover the sack from around the pups head anyhow I gave all the pups away and told them if any where in the dogs life they are not able to care for them or what ever the reason I will take the dogs back no question asked. This is what a good breeder does, if you don't hear this from a breeder then maybe you need to not buy the pup. I should of wrote out a contract to but didn't. This is also a good idea foranyone that has pups.

I got my female spayd as soon as she dryed up it only took once it should never of happened but it did but she had no more the male and my dog then was together untill his life ended.

We have raised purebred West German Working-Show class line German Shepherds for about 30 years now. We own several breeding dogs in our kennel yet this year we only have had one litter of 8 puppies. We always have a waiting list. Our selling price pretty much dictates that our pups goes to good homes at $1500-$2500 per puppy. Some people and families do not deserve our breed of dog because if they cannot devote several hours each day with the dog or puppy,it will not be socialized enough and then problems can occur with tempraments.
Unlike other breeders our dogs die on our place. When we feel a female should no longer be bred we have her spayed for obvious health-cancer reasons. if the dogs reproductive tract is "empty" for several heat cycles she can develope cysts, cancer or infection in her ovaries.Pymetra (sp?)also can happen in females.
We don't put conditions on buyers of our puppies, they are theres to do with as they want to.Many just want companion dogs and do not breed dogs as we do,nor do they import as we do. $2-$300 puppies open up buyers from all walks of life. You as the seller can place conditions "after the sale" that can legally be enforced. Be sure to have your contract witnessed and signed by that witness at the same time the buyer signs and dates it. Put a time frame in the contract and be sure to follow up with proof your conditions have been met before that date.
We are concerned, caring breeders of dogs. Yet we have many females here that have only had 2-3 liters and are 5-6 years old.If you look at our website maybe this will help you decide on what a responsible breeder is compared to what a back yard breeder is.Some people can't take care of themselves, let alone own a dog.We have customers of all walks of life, from a few famous athletes to the founder of M-TV and VH-1. We have sold dogs overseas to people we have never met before, and likely never will. But some breeds of dogs just grows on you,as does ours, which we consider family.

I commend you and your efforts for breed in betterment. We need more breeders like you, who health screen and put the time and effort into making the breed better and finding suitable homes for your pups. This is what dog breeders should be doing. Instead what you find are people on Craigslist offering 4 week old pit puppies for $200 just to make a quick buck and not caring about their animals or who they sell to, or you have morons that think letting your dog get pregnant and raise puppies is fun and will make you extra money. Most of these puppies end up in shelters of euthanized. It's a sad thing.

And then there are cats! Everyone gets a kitten and either doesn't neuter it and then kicks it to the curb when it starts spraying their house, or doesn't spay it and let's it have litters of kittens that then don't get spayed or neutered either! It's a sad cycle that leads to too many homeless pets.

I saw an ad on CL :

Lost male cat, he has been missing for 11 days. from Arapaho Drive, off of Plack Rd in North Pole, He is not fixed and may just be out catting, he is extremly gentle, I want my baby back, so if you have seen him or think you may have seen him, please call . He is 8 yrs old

If you want your 'baby back', neuter him, then he won't go out 'catting' producing litters that'll only die, or some owner who didnt spay their cat to have 7 kittens In a few weeks.
I made my blood boil that she reasoned he was gone because he wasn't neutered and out 'catting'. I saw a few weeks ago a vet was doing free neutering & spaying for dogs/cats.... Where's your excuse?
