They heard about the egg recall and are holding out for more feed...............or better working hours..............only will lay from 11 til 2 weekends and holidays off. Time and a half for laying two or more eggs per chicken.............are they carrying little signs under thier wings...............saying...........Will lay for food?

There is a little trick to having a good supply of eggs year round. shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell anybody, big big secret.

whispering....... you need 3 different ages of hens, one that is just starting to lay this time of year, they will lay steady thru Jan, Feb. The next group starts laying around then and they will carry you through 'till the heat of the summer. The 3rd starts laying in the heat of the summer. Don't tell anybody.

Younger hens aren't affected very much by the length of day or temps for the first laying cycle.

I had placed an ad on CL, in the news paper and on the radio, still no egg sales.

I even posted flyers in the stores in town.


I had a lady stop today and get 2 doz, I was all excited...................yipppppppy

The church down the road needed eggs for their ice cream socal, they wanted 6 doz, so I ran them down to the church and they tryed to pay me for em and I wouldnt take any money for them. I was happy they called me and happy to give to the church, I even took a few extras to give to the ladies making the ice cream. Made me feel good inside...........
