Why the variation on chick colour?

I am pretty clueless about the genetics involved and was hoping someone could explain to me why there are yellow chicks that grow up white and also silvery coloured chicks. I'll put example pics of two chicks from my latest hatch. What's behind these differences please?

Gold based vs silver based whites?
This is my experience with silkies. All of these chicks feathered in white.😊
They had a gold based white father and silver based white mother. The gold chicks ended up female, the silver chick ended up male and the white chicks could go either way.
