Why won't my chickens molt.

I had my roo for two years and he hadn't molted and I have hens that are almost a year old if not one year and they haven't molted yet and it's been that time of year already so I wanted to make sure there wasn't nothing wrong with them. And I know you can give them extra protein but hey eat the cats food all the time and they still don't get any new feathers or molt.

Most roosters don't do a heavy molt until they are in their second fall. The hens may or may not molt this fall. And it's only the very beginning of the molting season. I've had birds molt in August, and I've had birds molt in January.
Cat food isn't the greatest thing to give chickens. It's got too much salt in it.
