why wont my eggs hatch?

I clean my Incubators and Hatchers with Oxine. It's a very good product. I also add a little to the water resivors just to keep the bactria down in the warm water.

thanks from what i read it is definitely a humidity issue. my temperature was perfect and the only time we opened the bator was to add water, we kept it at about 50-60%. what is best to keep it at?

During the first 18 days, keep under 45% for sure. I like to keep it between 30-35%. Last 3 days I don't like it any lower than 70%. The higher the humidity in the last 3 days, the better. I can't get it higher than 78% unless I add additional containers with water. 70-72% is what it has stayed at this hatch. It worked out perfectly, and all chicks had dry air cells when they pipped. No drowning from high humidity the first 18 days, and no getting stuck from tough membranes after day 18.

Until I moved my bator to the barn it ran 30-40 for the 1st 18 days & then jumped to 60 all on it's own as soon as the 1st baby pipped. I had to watch my humidity didn't go too high during lockdown & often had to open the lid just to let some humidity out to keep chicks from drowning. I had humidity over 85 on several occasions, which resulted in soggy drowned babies. I never let mine go above 70 when it was in the basement. Now that it's in the barn I'm adding water at the beginning of day 1 & again at lockdown plus as needed thru lockdown & hatch. Ambient humidity makes a BIG difference in the humidity inside the bator. My rule of thumb has been 30-40 for the 1st 18 days & 50-65 during lockdown. If babies look like they are beginning to shrinkwrap I add more water during hatch.

you know the rubber stuff with little holes? It also can be used under rugs to hold them in place. You can buy it at most big box stores like target
