I have 18 half-grown chickens. They have a very nice coop but they want to sleep outside. Every night we have to go out and get them from under the coop and put them inside. They have food and water, clean bedding, roosts and the heat lamp. Why do they try to sleep out? What can I do to change this?

I have three young ones who insist on piling in the doorway of their coop. They perch there instead of in their own coop or the older chickens' coop.

about an hour before dark take the food and water and place it inside if it is already inside bring it out in the morning and then take it in at night 1 hour before dark I did that with mine and they went in and were roosting after darkness so it does work this is the first night i did this and they went right in after weeks of having to gather them up every night and placing them on the roost in the coop.
