Why would a rooster leave his farm in search of a new one?

Hi all, this evening a young rooster furtively crossed onto my property and hid in the bushes. He approached me a few times before I caught him and caged him. He made a certain sound many times; it was like a high pitched sigh. I don't recognize him specifically, but he looks like a mutt that my flock would have hatched (barred rock, easter egger, swedish flower). This is the second rooster in 2 months that I found searching for a new home on my street. I would think that these were both gifts to a neighboring family up the street, from last July, although this cockerel seems small for 7 month old barred rock mix. The family sold or gave most of the chicks I gifted them to their feed delivery guy. The last thread I posted about this family got deleted. What conditions would be so bad that a chicken would leave its farm in search of a new one?

I suspect that this rooster did not wander off on his own. I strongly suspect that someone just dumped this one on you. The have no courage to rehome properly, and take the lazy..... easy way out. Totally irresponsible in my opinion.
I have no disagreement for roosters to be dinner for someone that can use the meat. But,,,, that takes effort, to deliver to willing taker.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:
