Why would anybody not have chickens?

Great looking eggs! To my experience, most people just don't like birds in general because they think they are "too smelly and dirty." i guess they really don't know where their smelly dirty store-bought eggs come from, then.

Also, i surely hope my current EE Rooster has some blue gene in him. My only EE hen lays pink eggs, so i hope a cross of the Roo and someone else will make for an interesting Olive egg - Or just a neat looking bird with good eggs. ( sooo curious as to what a splashy EE and a Polish make)

I think people around here equate ALL chickens to those big commercial Tyson houses that populate much of Arkansas. They think ALL chickens stink to high heaven!!

I guess ya can't really blame them if that's the only thing they know about chicken keeping.

True, most animals that people don't have and don't want are because of what corporations make them out to be.

Wifezilla: How often do you get those, in comparison to chicken eggs?

Coturnix quail lay about every day if there is enough light. I have a supplemental light on their cage so I get 3 of these every afternoon from my 3 goofy quail hens Snowball, Keiko & Lucy Lu.

I'm afraid if I had quail my husband would just shoot them. I would love to have quail though. I guess he is a hunter and I am a gatherer. i think that's the way it's supposed to be.

Mrs. K :

I want the dish! Where did you get a ceramic egg dish like that? It is perfect for display! Mrs.K

I get the ceramic egg dishes at Hobby Lobby at Easter time. I have the pink one and a green one. These are sold for decoration but I know you can find white ones at some specialty kitchen places. Like Martha Stewart online and stuff. But if you wait for Easter they are way cheaper at Hobby Lobby.
