My only white hen has been being picked on by the entire flock for months now. The rooster seems to favor her with his attentions a little too often. I put a saddle on her and she seemed to improve, but DH took it off her too soon. Yesterday, I picked her up and discovered that she was pretty much bald top AND bottom!! Poor baby is otherwise looking healthy, but suffers from heavy feather loss.

Other than a saddle what can I do? Isolating her seems to make her extremely upset. And, it makes them pick on her even more........

Suggestions?

Poor thing. She may be upset when you isolate her, but the others will continue to pick on her until those feathers grow back, and that's what she needs to do, grow back those feathers. I would put that chicken saddle back on.

Is she so bald that the saddle doesn't cover enough? Maybe you could get some type of doggie sweater that you could modify in some way for her....

Good luck with her......Poor gal!

I made her a new saddle that sort of slides down over part of her belly.

I think I might bring her in for a few days and see..... I wonder if I brought her in and tucked some eggs under her if she'd brood them for me??
