Duck ate a bunch of shavings!!?

No, it feels grainy, like it has grain in it, but it is definitely not because I didn’t feed them tonight.
Edit: It just showed up tonight and he was completely normal this morning.
I’m just wondering why you didn’t feed them tonight

Hi @Jenbirdee thank you so much! Right now I’m inside but I will check on him again in a little bit and send an update with a video.
I’m not sure if the mulch was treated but I will find out.
I didn’t feed them tonight because I usually don’t at nighttime, only if I feed them half breakfast. (Sorry if that’s a little hard to understand)

When I check on him again I might bring him some coconut oil. Thank you again!!

I wonder if he ate the mulch because he’s hungry? I think you should always feed him dinner. What kind of food do you feed him?
Ducks need a good duck pellet feed , that has all the nutrition necessary for ducks .

I feed Mazuri Maintenance Feed, around 2 cups per day between 5 ducks.
Unrelated, but recently (maybe a couple months ago) my ducks started wanting ALL THE FOOD that they could possibly get. Before, they would eat some, but not all of their food, and now, they eat the entire bowl no matter how much I give them. I think that it may be a combination of my younger hens just starting laying, and the weather getting cooler.
I doubled their feed then, but I agree that it would probably be a good idea to feed in both morning and evening.

I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t mulch now, because it felt like pretty small pieces and the mulch is much bigger.

I just checked on him (I took some videos) and he looks SO MUCH better! I didn’t even see a lump anymore and he seemed to be acting completely normal.
Do you think that I should feed him any tonight or wait until the morning?

Also how do you add videos? I just have them in my photos app and not on YouTube or anything.
Edit: I also refilled his water as it had been emptied halfway (possibly from playing as much as drinking, but still)

Yes lol playing and splashing that’s they always do but I’m really glad you gave him overnight water last night just because of not knowing what he might have eaten to help him get it down just in case it was something that could’ve been a problem.
Mazuri Waterfowl is wonderful Feed. I also buy it and feed my docks some in the morning and the evening. I love how it floats on the water and they love gobble it up that way.
I also leave a feeder full of duck pellets all day available free choice
I used to buy All flock pellets because I had chickens together with my Ducks but now my chickens have their own yard and so the ducks get Duck pellets
It’s true ducks eat a lot.
, do yours have a big yard to eat wormsand bugs during the day too? That helps keep food costs down a little
I hope he is well today maybe you can keep the ducks away from the new mulch if possible and find out if it has any chemicals, I know there are some mulches with weed killer in them
