22° here when I fed the chickens around 7:00. I wore sweatpants under my flannel nightgown, a wool sweater over it, and a down jacket over that.

The girls were fine, of course; just bopped on out of the run and started scratching.

I put on leggings under my skirt to walk Caleb.

The closest yet, but then Caleb barked, and Debbie ran.

Still have hope that they will eventually get along.

Looks like Debbie is starting to investigate. She is a beautiful girl. Caleb certainly looks interested too!

One of the EE pullets I've been waiting to lay gave me this green egg on Thanksgiving day! I have 3 green eggs now. I have 6 EE pullets. I haven't figured out which one but I have suspicions. They are about 23 weeks and all have red combs and faces. All are "practicing" and kicking shavings out of the nest boxes.

Things continue puttering here.

I pulled the last two arugula and gave one plant, roots and all, to each flock. It wilted badly with the most recent freeze, but did perk up. I'd rather feed it to them now than wait until it's too freeze damaged to be edible in chicken estimation.

Carrots and cabbage are growing well under plastic, though not entirely sealed off. I drop down plastic ends when the forecast is for 20s. Collards continue to scoff at the cold.

Caleb went with me to Pet co yesterday, was pretty well behaved, but acted up a lot last night. Nope, it's day 7 but he's not ready yet, he needs to decompress more. I'm decompressing, too, first full week of retirement here.


Routine is being established. Kong toys are being appreciated.

He just put himself in Time Out, crate door is open.
