An Engineer, Some Pallets, and Some Chooks - A Kiwi Coop Build

Weekend 1: Recruited my dad and broke out the tools. Got the main coop frame, floor and the two simple walls on. So far I have been lucky enough to use reclaimed pallet wood, old fence posts from the farm, and other lengths of free reclaimed wood. Current expenses: $28NZD for glue and some screws I didn’t already have. Next up, the main access door and egg box, followed by the front wall and chicken door.

Weekend 2 and 3: Slower progress now between work picking up an our weather being abysmal. The egg box is almost finished, roosting bar stay blocks are installed, the access door just needs batons, then it’s roof and move time before it gets too heavy. Project supervisor has been impressed thus far.
