Why you shouldn't breed white boxers:

This is dolly, our deaf white boxer. She's a rescue, about 8 years old, and is well trained to hand signals. If you ever see someone selling "rare" white boxers, don't buy them! Breeding white boxers very often (25% of the time) results in deafness, and white boxers are not showable because of this genetic probability! Anyway, these guys are common in rescues, disabled animals tend to be abandoned more, but she's PERFECT, and "listens" better than most hearing dogs.

My pittie had a brother in his litter that was pure white and deaf also

Halo luckily has his hearing.... though the vet was surprised.

There is a breeder around me who breeds some kind of white pointer.... they often get deaf dogs, and have them euthanized!

I wish they would just quit breeding their dogs!!!! Killing the deaf ones doesn't fix the genes in their breeders!

White Boxers are the BEST. I've had two white males, Lou and Sidney and they were PERFECT in every way.....they both lived to 11 and 10 years old. My Sabra lived to 11 as well...all were rescues.

Anyone that kills an animal bc of it's color, it's showability or lackthereof needs to shot. I LOATHE, and I mean LOATHE, the way some ppl view animals, especially dogs....like they're disposable, or something.

I just put a bumper sticker on my car that says:
"The more people I meet, the more I love my dog".

I'm a big dog person...I value their lives much more than most ppl. Boxers will always have a special place in my heart...and your white girl is gorgeous!

I hear ya. When I worked at the hs a white boxer came in that had a horrible eye infection and was deaf. They wanted to euth him but I begged for them to allow me to contact a boxer rescue and thanks to BoxAR they found him a great home. I had to do all the cleaning/meds/ transport for him but it was so worth it. He was such a love bug.
I have a white APBT and he is deaf, which is why he was so 'unadoptable'. The day I saw him we weren't even looking for a dog but I saw him and fell in love. A week later, he came home with me and Jimmie Dean became Sinatra

There are a lot of crappy backyard breeders out there that have no clue as to what they are doing. No idea of genetics, no health/temperment testing of the parents, nothing. Those ppl should be shot.

She is a beauty! I was actually looking to rescue a deaf white boxer because my son is deaf. I thought they would be a perfect match. I ended up getting a brindle who CAN hear but my son has taught him sign language...so cool! He is the best dog we ever had!

It is the same for any breed that does not have white in the standard. It is called the Z factor. You are not supposed to breed any dogs that have the Z factor due to the problems mentioned above. Not all white's will have those problems, but it is pretty normal for them to show up. I do not agree with killing them because they are white or have the problems to go along with it. I think that placing them in good home with some one who is willing to work with them and love them is a great thing. But also agree that they shouldn't be bred just to get the "rare" whites. I have Dobermans and the smae applies to them. There is a lady up the road that advertises in the local paper- Rare White Dobermans....It always makes me cringe.

Z factor is the white factor and a genetic setback. White dobermans have serious health problems and most GOOD breeders will avoid producing any dog that is sub-standard than a good healthy doberman, and will avoid breeding to any dog with z factor in it. Once you breed to a z factor dog, all puppies in that litter are registered as z factor dogs, even if the other parent is clear. It is a fault and sub-standard in the breed.

I use to raise boxers. And white ran with the ones I had. Akc don't want differant colors. They want the standard brown and white, fawn and brindle. I don't know why . I don't know about ckc they might.
