As if today hadn't been weird enough, we had a storm whip up suddenly. It only rained like crazy for about 20 minutes!

But, it tore the awning right off of the side of my camper!!

Like ripped it right off the side!! The support arms are twisted and bent and the rivets are ripped right out of it!

Gonna cost me $1300 that I was planning on spending on the trip to replace it!

Yeesh! Maybe the storm was what opened my coop - five hours earlier!

i've been hiding in my basement with 3 scared dogs and 8 scared cats! i have a clear spot in the stormy sky so now i have to run out and milk 2 goats REALLY FAST!

got all the poultry in earlier including my big ol' muscovy drake who ended up in with the hens!

ugh. hate the big scary storms.. i'd rather have earthquakes....

Earthquakes???? really?!

We don't live in tornado country so the storms here while impressive usually aren't that damaging. This one was just weird, It must have been a microburst or something because our lawn chairs and everything else was fine, but the awning was ripped off like a giant and snatched it! The big roll bar was bent clean in half!

Once three years ago we had a burst like that - a row of forty year old pines all got topped like some kind of enormous hedgerow! Clean breaks all about forty feet off the ground.

Did you get your storm?

how'd it look this morning??? sorry about the awning - it must have been something for it to bend! and yay that you didnt loose the lawn furniture! i've had to stomp waaaay out the field to get mine back before.

for us - well nothing. a whole lot of screaming by the news guys, me chasing nervous cats with my duck net to try and get them into carriers, then dog peed on floor. me shaking. then... not much. it fizzled just before it got to us but.... some poor guy had two of his barns blown over. then we got round 2 late at nite.

and yes earthquakes! i'm from the 'west side' ;-) and had several biggies when i lived in Pac NW. they are much easier to deal with - you have no idea if/when they are coming, there is no hopping around by the news... and there is only one thing to do:

duck and cover

i swear watching the radar makes it worse! ugh!

I had rented a travel trailer once for a BBQ Cookoff. A freak storm ripped the awning off of it too. They guy who rented it to me had to talk me into buying his "renters insurance". I almost didnt do it. I was SO glad that I did. I won that cookoff.

I am glad you had that insurance, the price is high! Dh salvaged the arms of the awning and the repair shop is going to see if they can be welded back into place.

I also had three of my tomatoes smashed to the ground. The news said we had 70mph gusts so I guess that explains part of it. But, weather is very fickle tearing apart one house and leaving the dog house in perfect order......

I do agree that sometimes the weather channel makes it worse! But, we would scream if they didn't warn us!
