Hey yall! not 100% this is the right place for this but the best i could find.. feel free to move.
I am crazy excited about getting my first flock of layers (sense i was a teen) in a couple weeks. however, i visited the local farmers market this weekend and was exctied to pick up some farm fresh eggs for the family to test out and they werent so good... it was wierd, they had like an aftertaste or maybe not after but off taste. like they were starting to go bad or were contaminated or something. BUT she specifically gave me ones that were supposed to be really fresh cause i told her i wasnt going straight home. they were only in and air conditioned car for about an hour though and were unwashed so i doubt that could have done it, right?
can anyone tell me what might have been wrong with them? and how i can prevent it with my own flock? they really grossed me out and i am not a finicky person.
p.s. they were fertile but that should not affect taste, right?
