I built mine 100 ft away from our house, I only run an extension cord in the winter ( maryland) that runs a water deicer off a thermocube so it only runs a 40watt bulb between 35*-45*. apart from that I have no utilities run to it.
Easy walk to and from when I let the dogs out in the morning and evening. the hens(10) have a fenced in 50x100ft fenced in area on the back of the yards to scratch around.
No noise
No smell
plus my compost area has easier access to clean the coop and dump in the chicken waste.
if you're not paying attention you wouldn't even know we owned chickens.
