Have a pair of wild American Black Ducks coming, putting them in a common pen with my mallard, white call, gray call and bibbed call ducks. Wondering what the offspring would look like if crossed with my white calls/ bibbed calls.

okay well keep in mind that american black ducks cross with mallards in the wild all the time its one of the few cases where the hybrids of these birds can mate with one another or their parent species and continue to reproduce like nothing is wrong. so you will most likely see the american black duck and mallard offspring not looking much different from either parents,

as for the call duck part i have no idea ive only thought of breeding call ducks with call ducks. in fact i have my call ducks in an aviary totally separate from my mallards finally finished the aviaries i was so happy

Buffgooseguy, thankyou, happy to hear you have seperate pens for your birds, i'm going to have to do the same thing myself before spring. Only have the 1 mallard hen, and she's so much bigger than the calls, think i'll just let her choose her own mate and then pen them together, have to many call drakes already. Have never seen an American Black duck in person, have always loved the look of them in photos tbough. Will be interesting to see if the bibbed pattern shows up in the 1/2 American Black duck, bibbed call x's. Hopefully after crossing the wild birds on domestic birds i won't need a federal wildlife permit to sell the offspring, will have to check into that.
