Have other ornithologists/bird lovers stopped feeding wild birds for the health and well being of their backyard flock? It would be great to still have bird feeders around as we both love to observe all the wild birds....

Does anyone have any thoughts on this subject? Any diseases/ health concerns. Has anyone found any solutions? Since our flock is housed in the back we have thought about put feeders exclusively in the front yard. Would that be enough isolation between wild birds and our flock?

If you are really concerned, roof the run and make the sides small-enough mesh that birds can't get in; that will take care of the vast majority of risk.

Or, you can take the attitude that Life's Just Like That, and maybe not *encourage* wild birds to hang out around the coop (like, as you say, moving the feeder to the front yard) but otherwise just let happen what may.

Good luck, have fu,n
