Hello all, Tomorrow I am finally picking up my chicks and starting my new journey. This is my first time. Of course I have many questions (especially after reading and watching so much info available). But this question is related (on the side :) )
I have always enjoyed birds of nature and have been feeding them for many years. I fear continuing attracting them may be a problem while keeping hens.
Thoughts please
Ken

May or may not cause problems, as wild birds can carry diseases and parasites and can be attracted to chicken feed.

I was feeding songbirds near my run for several years without issue, but recently had mites (can't say if it was the songbirds or if the mites were washed in on debris after a flood) so I moved the feeder further away from the chicken area, as a precaution. So that's one thing you can try.

I stopped feeding wild birds right around the time I got chickens.
Would rather spend money on chicken feed...
....and didn't want to attract hawks to the yard(lots around here),
as well as the pests and disease they can bring to the flock.
