Wild birds pooping in water

I have been out of town for a week and have had a pet sitter. This evening I noticed that the chicken water bowl was full of poop from the wild birds that sit on the top of the shed. I'm sure some problem will stem from this, what should I do right off the bat?

You never want to put the water inside the coop as it causes too much moisture.

Depends on the waterer, horizontal nipple waterer is fine.
And no poop from anyone in there

I always put water in coups. I treat for coccidiosis where water is THE contributing factor. But I don’t have chickens that play in water.

Let me correct myself: never put a gravity waterer in the coop.
