Wild Black Hen in my yard laying eggs

So today I saw her get out for her nest and go forging in the neighbors yard. She has about 7 white eggs. Looks to be healthy but the eggs had small black bugs crawling on them.

She may have mites... not terribly surprising if she's been out on her own, but if you're going to keep her, and coop her, she's going to need treatment.

Have you checked around your area to see if anyone is missing her? All the posts and stories on BYC about people missing birds that wander off to broody, I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it. She may be feral, but to me the right thing to do would be try to find out.

I heard there are lots of feral chickens in HI doing just fine. What island are you on, Oahu? If Gray Farms is correct, then I'd say, just offer some feed and enjoy your visitor(s). And take pics of the babies if they hatch......
