Then a live trap is the way to go. Trap him and take him to animal control.

Or if you like, you could call your local Animal Control and see if they could come trap it for you.

I suggest a .22. or a shotgun. We have WAY too many feral cats around here, and they aren't doing the wild bird population any good, and I certainly wouldn't want them harming my birds, or leaving diseases around for my other animals. Take them out quickly, humanely, and permanently!

i dont have the money to get a trap. but i like him hangging around
my house.....i just went to get eggs and a chick got out .. the cat was hidding on the other side of the yard just watching that chick ... im worried what do i do?

What do you like more, chickens or the cat? I would definitely get rid of the cat. Shotgun is very quick.

Up to you. I would hate to see you lose your chickens. Feral cats are way different the domesticated cats. They actually have to hunt for food ie. your chickens.

It is very possoble to build a cat-proof coop and run. Although they are very agile they are not nearly as clever with their paws as a raccoon. Build a better enclosure for the chickens.

If you want to feed the cat, make sure you get it spayed or neutered and feed it only what it can eat. People who keep cat food by the door create an abundant food source for an ever increasing population of feral cats, skunks, raccoons, rats, crows, coyotes and even bears.
