So a woman from my church has 10 duck eggs in a nest in her yard, she was fine with it until her dog found the nest and won’t leave it alone. She said momma duck comes every afternoon and sits on them. I am going to attempt to box trap mom and bring her and her eggs to my farm & put her & the eggs in a coop by herself but if I cannot catch mom, how do I incubate the eggs without knowing how long she’s been sitting on them? The woman said she noticed the first egg on 4/6/19. Someone help please!

You can candle the eggs and compare them to a chart to figure out roughly how far along they are.

Bear in mind, though, depending on where you live and what species the duck is, neither the duck nor its eggs may be legal to possess.

If you're in the UK, it's illegal to disturb a bird's nest with eggs in it. Additionally, it's highly discouraged to allow wild fowl to mix with domesticated fowl, because of the risk of avian flu. Trust me when I say DEFRA takes this very seriously, and you risk having your birds destroyed if you area comes until flu advisory.
