wild ducks

I already have mandarins, and $40 to $60 isn't that bad but by the time you pay for the birds, box, and shipping a $40 pair of birds turns into $100 pair of birds really fast. Thanks to all that responded.

True, but that's all part of it. Unless you can find a breeder in driving distance, that's the bird life.
Trick is, if possible, buy a box full not just 1 pair, it really doesnt change the shipping price too much, and knocks the total average cost per pair down a lot. Buying and shipping in 1 pair is a pricey way to go. I always tried to buy in bulk when I was getting mine and have them shipped in air cargo to our local airports.
Back then, you could get 100 birds (15 or better boxes full) shipped in to the airport clear across the country for $250 or so on average. They still do that by the way

100 birds.... Wow! That would be a spendy venture! I am buying 4 pairs and thats fairly pricey... Are they worth it? You bet they are! Just for the enjoyment factor is enough, but you can sell them as well. And just like with most anything that procreates, the offspring can pay for the hobby.

Yep, when I ordered ducks, I ordered ducks, average order was 100-200 per shippment and would get in 3-5 of them a year.

Sounds like me... I hate having less then 10 pair of birds shipped unless it is something special... We drove 3+ hours one way to pick up 18 pair.

We use Delta Dash quite a bit they are about 100 dollars for as many as you can fit in a pet carrier they won't accept boxes anymore they have to be shipped in a airline approved pet carrier. Nice thing about Delta is the birds arrrive the same day they are shipped some within six hours, and if you are getting a few pairs of birds it is not much more than the post office as they go byweight so four pairs can easy hit 75.00.
