Storm had overheard the conversation between Hans and Feather. He walked over to her.

Cora smiled. She sniffed the little calf, she was a little bit away from his face, but close enough to get his scent.

Hans watched for predators, he was thinking about the words his now gone father had said. But then he couldn't forget one thing "If one finds another path, there is no room to turn around for another." which meant if a herd member left on his or her own choice, they'd never be welcomed back, they had broke the number one rule, never leave the herd if you want to stay.
