Wild Easter Eggers

My EE is like this too...you'd think we were torturing her or something. Bizarre. I'd always heard they were supposed to be ok around people, but not our Susie. She's about 5 weeks. Our two Welsummers seem to not mind being held, in fact one of them LIKES being held. She's a sweetie!

Hi all! Thanks for responding. They have gotten used to the routine and sometimes actually come to my hand to be put in for the night. Usually I have to wait with my hand outstretched and finally grab them as they know what is to happen but rarely can bring themselves to walk into my hand. The big one still screams when I finally do pick her up even though she is used to it. I have not been able to spend much time with them but did sit with them on my lap the other night and the large one gave me chicken purrs for a long time - letting me know she enjoyed the priviledge. The bantam still looks more like a dove than a chicken.

Is there a common usage term for chicken purrs?
