I would never eat a wild mushroom unless I was an absolute expert on mushrooms. the difference between the poison ones and the safe ones can be so very slight. I remember years back when a bunch of people died from eating death cap mushrooms because they look so much like the safe ones. Then there was the author who wrote a popular book on finding wild foods to eat .he died from eating the wrong mushroom. I don't know what these are but I sure would not eat them.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no Brulette mushroom. Your images do look like Bay Boletes but you need to do more to make sure what they are. A spore print can help. Boletes spore color can range from yellow to olive, brown, reddish-brown,chocolate-brown or black.

From Mushrooms Demystified by David Arora: "The boletes are one of the safest groups for the table, as well as one of the most substantial and rewarding. A few members of the genus Boletus are poisonous, but the majority are edible ( though some are distinctly better than others)."

He references Harry Thiers' California Mushrooms: A Field Guide to the Boletes as being a must have for serious bolete buffs since 80% of boletes are found in the west. For the easterners he suggests The Boletes of Michigan by Harry Thiers and Alexander Smith.

Good luck.
