Wild Emus at The Lilly Pilly Tree

Pics
Dad and the chicks have a standoff with LC and Offsider. And Dad and Co. got some wheat. Unusual. But we have a wonderful opportunity to observe this clutch.

And there tame-ness remains a mystery. Has Dad been here before? Years ago? As a consort?

Okay. Lost that image. Shall get another.

Here is a good shot of Offsider.

He has become tamer than any consort ever. He seems to take his cue from Limpy Chick, and has come almost to within arm's length.

Notice how clear his ruff is. It's almost the only way I can tell the two apart.

New Year's morning, readers. While my system is working, I'll just upload everything from recent days.

Here are the chicks this morning. We are getting better and better clips because they are becoming tame so fast.

This clip was taken from the seat in the garden. Mustangs here yesterday -- right in front of the fig tree.

LC and other tame birds just walk around me and the bird bath and under the fruit trees.

See how nice Offsider's ruff is?

This is a good good clip, campers. As you recall, females do most of the fighting; but she can always call for support. So, just happened to be in the garden when some interloper appeared, and this breeding-pair snapped into action.

'Greater panoply' is foomphing and chest feathers raised and walking sideways and doing it in unison.

The tiny mike on my phone won't pick up foomphing clearly -- but you can hear just a tiny bit.
