So we have a nest of wild geese near our house. This morning one of my dogs got a little too close and spooked mama goose off the nest. I noticed that she has already laid some eggs.

Is it possible to get some fertile goose eggs and slip them into the nest for her to hatch? Or would that possibly spoil the nest and she might just abandon all of them?

Thanks!!

If these are wild geese, they are Federally protected. The protections include the requirement to not harass them. Messing with their nest can be considered wildlife harassment. Leave the nest alone and avoid the area in the future.

There are feral geese in some areas. Feral geese do not fall under the same protections as wild geese.

To be on the safe side, leave the geese and their nest alone.

Interesting. So if they decide to nest on my pond, I have to stop using it?

does this seem like one or two eggs, or do they lay a big mound and these are the only two I can see?

Just stay away from the area where the nest is. In my opinion you were already too close to the nest when you took these pictures.
