wild hair = coop & chicks

Cool! I like it for now, definitely won't get rid of it when the big coop is built.

Remembered my other question. I haven't looked closely, but how do you remove the little metal tag that's on their wing? Is it just clipped around some feathers?

I haven't ever gotten chicks with the clips, so I don't know. FWIW, since I only use mine as a brooder, I built a frame under it to get the floor 3 feet off the ground. It wouldn't be practical for adult birds, but it makes it easy to come up on the chicks at eye level, and keeps them much more tame than always coming at them from above

Still snickering over the Internet search. I also get itchy with chick handling. ..it goes away after a surgical type scrub up. If you go to replace the chick head right to the manager and explain the death so you don't have to hear about having to buy 4 more chicks.
When I went to buy my "amercaunas" k said "will you grab me a couple of those Easter eggers posing as Amercaunas" the experienced gal monitoring the chick's smiled knowingly and helped me pick out a couple of the more unique markings she had been spying.
